However, one incredible and absolute infrastructure failure, which seems to be unique for Albir, is revealed on the picture to the left. It shows a typical sidewalk in Albir... and mind you...it has nothing to do with an earth quake... which you may have thought.
Virtually every street have Platan-trees growing on the sidewalk along the curb, and the roots of most of them are lifting/breaking up the tiles in this manner.
How many elderly people have toppled, fallen and broken their bones, or being maimed in even more serious ways due to the prevailing condition of the sidewalks is unknown to me, but I have witnessed a couple of bad falls. Horrible!
It is hence most likely, that the Chief of the responsible department in the Town Hall, has a close connection to at least one local Doctor and/or Clinic, specializing in the handling of mutilations stemming from these horrific sidewalks in Albir.
Hence... "until then"... please keep your eyes glued to the sidewalk when taking a stroll in Albir, and please!... do not walk in the dark.

Albir is a great place to spend the winter months and/or to buy your second home. That's a fact!
The place offers a well developed infrastructure in most every respect... if casting a blind eye to a somewhat unstable electricity supply and the lack of adequate telephone lines. A situation which resembles (to some extent) Norway, back in the late fifties... but that's Spain today though... nothing special for Albir. There are places a lot worse than Albir in this respect.
