Brandulph - 2006 / 7/ 10
I have a few hundred sketches and drafts (tucked away) in a carboard box. They tell about the life of the three main characters in this comic strip - Brandulph, Gnomy and Perro - whose life at times is both hilarious and rather chaotic. Well, instead of it all just lying there gathering dust, I thought I would brush them up a bit, and present them here. This is purely one of several hobbies I have, so new strips will most likely appear irregularly, but!... they will keep on coming. So please drop in on from time to time ;-).
Brandulph, who is married to Erna, has worked all his life in a shipyard, ever since he left primary school. He is kind of rough and simple minded at times, but a man with a heart of gold. His main hobby, besides sailing and angling, is moon shining. His superb still (selfmade of course), turns out booze ranging from his famous"Angle Tears" to the notorious "Standing Ovation" and "Bear Sweat".
Gnomy is, as his name indicates, a friendly little "earth gnome". The little guy was pulled out of the earth in Brandulph's small back yard potato field, when Erna was picking the tubers one autumn. He is a true intellectual (hundreds of years old), and spends most of his time reading and studying. And besides... being a gnome, he is of course able to communicate with "Perro". (I understand this is made by way of thought transfer.)
Perro is a 100% pure Spanish mongrel, and a very smart little dog. Brandulph brought him home from Spain in his back pack, when returning from a ship-repair-job he had made there. -"I took him along, 'cause he understands Norwegian better than any Spaniard," he told his wife Erna, as he emptied his back pack in the bath tub. -"Multilingual.. understands everything.. but doesn't speak much yet," he added, as he went down in the basement to his moonshine distillery.
